Note that you must also submit your application for admission and supporting materials including high school transcripts and ACT or SAT scores (we accept either test) to Carthage by December 11, 2009, to be considered for these scholarships, and you can apply for admission online. (If you are a transfer student, you may send college transcripts in place of high school information if you have 12 or more transferrable credits.)
Six full-tuition scholarships awarded to Kenosha residents in recognition of the City of Kenosha's agreement to lease parkland to Carthage for construction of a student village. An additional full-tuition scholarship will be awarded to a Kenosha resident in recognition of the City of Kenosha's agreement to lease land to Carthage for student parking. These scholarships incorporate all Carthage assistance, and are valued in excess of $110,000 each. To compete, admitted students must return a completed Kenosha Scholarship application and personal statement postmarked no later than December 11, 2009.

The Lincoln Scholarships symbolize the College's strong commitment to students seeking the challenge of the Carthage Honors Program. Named for Abraham Lincoln, an early Trustee of the College, this prestigious scholarship covers full tuition, room and board for up to four consecutive years of undergraduate study, an award worth more than $140,000. Carthage selects three Lincoln Scholars from the incoming freshman class.
The Clausen Scholarships extend the College's commitment to excellence even further. Named for distinguished alumnus A. W. 'Tom' Clausen, '44, this prestigious scholarship covers full tuition for up to four consecutive years, an award of more than $110,000. Carthage selects three Clausen Scholars from the incoming freshman class.
The Ruud Scholarships continue the College's commitment to students exhibiting academic and leadership excellence. Offered through the generosity of Susan (Young, '69) and Alan Ruud, this prestigious scholarship covers full tuition for up to four consecutive years of undergraduate study, an award of more than $110,000. Carthage selects three Ruud Scholars from the incoming freshman class.
The Hay Scholarships: Named for President Lincoln's private secretary and Secretary of State for Presidents McKinley and Roosevelt, the John M. Hay Scholarship will be awarded to eleven competitors from the incoming freshman class. In tribute to Secretary Hay's leadership and diplomacy, these scholarships will cover 75% of tuition for up to four consecutive years, an award that exceeds $80,000.

Qualified scholarship applicants will be notified in January 2010. Finalists will be invited to campus for a competition in January 2010 .
The Carthage commitment to scholars extends beyond the seven Kenosha Scholarships, three Lincoln Scholarships, three Clausen Scholarships, three Ruud Scholarships, and eleven Hay Scholarships. Top students typically receive a substantial package of multiple no-need awards, ranging from $5,000 to $11,000, or more. Many qualify for additional need-based assistance, making Carthage quite affordable.
Carthage Honors Program and Kenosha Scholarship Program candidates are selected from among students who are admitted to Carthage and who have submitted the separate Kenosha Scholarship Application, along with the required personal statement, no later than December 11, 2009.
The Office of Admissions screens application and identifies candidates best suited for the Honors Program and for the Kenosha Scholarship Program. The College notifies these students in January and invites them to campus for a competition in January 2010. This offers a unique opportunity to interact with Carthage faculty, potential classmates, and Carthage Honors students, while competing in the Kenosha Scholarship Program.
During the campus visit, prospective Kenosha Scholars will complete an essay and have a conversation with two faculty/staff members. Parents are invited to an interactive session to learn more about the benefits of a Carthage education
