Accelerated Certification for Teachers (ACT)

This program helps those who already hold a bachelor's degree and want to become a licensed teacher at the middle and high school level. The Carthage Accelerated Certification for Teachers (ACT) is the only program of its kind endorsed by a public school district (Kenosha Unified School District).

  • This 15-month program allows students to complete the Wisconsin license for grades 6-12 and a Master of Education from Carthage.
  • Students can earn a license in any area of middle/high school licensure offered in the state of Wisconsin.

Admission Requirements

  • Students must possess a bachelor's degree prior to acceptance.
  • You must submit a completed ACT application and $25 application fee.
  • You must submit official transcripts from all colleges attended.
  • You must pass the Praxis I and Praxis II state required tests. Information on these tests can be found at www.ets.org/praxis.
  • You must obtain a fulltime teaching job in your subject area. This teaching position can be held in any private or public middle or high school in Wisconsin. Job placement assistance is available through Carthage.
  • Tuition for students entering the program during 2008-09 cohort is $13,000 (Financial aid is available).
