Videoconferencing

At Carthage, two-way videoconferencing is a tool to share resources with educational partners throughout Wisconsin and the world.

As part of the Southeastern Wisconsin Instructional Network Group (SWING), Carthage works together with eight Public School Districts, two Parochial High Schools, a State School, a Technical College, a Private University, and four Museums to cooperatively explore distance learning tools, strategies and resources. Each of the members have installed a two-way video classroom that is able to connect to other members of SWING, as well as locations throughout the state of Wisconsin, via Badgernet. Our Badgernet classroom at Carthage is Hedberg Library, room 170 (for more information, see link at left).

In addition to the capabilities of Badgernet, Carthage can also connect with sites around the world via IP videoconferencing. The Troha Board Room in the Clausen Center (see link at left) has integrated videoconferencing capabilities.

Carthage Adult Education regularly offers classes in the Professional Development program to teachers seeking certification credits. Each term, some of the Enrichment and Continuing Education classes are offered to distant participants using video conferencing. For more details, check out the current term information on the School of Professional Studies web site.
