The Carthage Alumni Association and YOU
Did you know that you are a member of the Alumni Association?
The purpose of the Alumni Association is to organize activities to meet the needs of alumni and help you develop a lifelong relationship with Carthage. The Association seeks to unify all Carthage alumni for service to the College in the development of financial support; the extension of public, community and church relations; recruitment and retention of students; student career planning and placement; the encouragement of academic distinction; and in any other ways consistent with the needs of Carthage. The Association also seeks to identify the needs alumni for services from Carthage and strives to implement programs to serve those needs, e.g., provide an outlet of social activities to rekindle old friendships, communication and networking, etc.
The Alumni Association is represented by members of the Alumni Council. Meet the Alumni Counsel members that also a part of the 1-10 Club:
Andy Boncher, '99
While at Carthage Andy majored in Biology and minored in Chemistry and Spanish. Outside of his academic studies he was a member of the football team for four years. Currently, he is in his 10th year teaching 10th grade Biology at Warren Township High School in Gurnee, Illinois. He just completed his Master’s Degree in Teacher Leadership from the University of Illinois at Springfield. He and his wife Leigh Ann (’99) and his 2 year old daughter Ellie currently reside in Bristol, WI in Kenosha County.
Kim Ferizi, '04
Currently Kim lives in Chicago and works at the Chicago Board of Trade where he cofounded an Alternative Investment Firm dealing in currencies, commodities, interest rates and equity markets around the globe. They had a very profitable year in 2008 despite the financial meltdown. In his free time Kim enjoys broadening his horizons by studying computer science, discrete mathematics, Physics and Karate.
Thomas Kelley, '99 Nominations Chair
Tom was a 1999 graduate of Carthage and majored in Business Administration and Marketing. While at Carthage Tom was a member of the Business Honor Society , Pi Sigma Epsilon - Professional Marketing Fraternity, Varsity Football at Carthage, and Delta Omega Nu - Social Fraternity. He is currently working at United Hospital System, Inc. in Kenosha, WI as the Director of Strategic Planning. He was recently married on July 12, 2008 to Tracy Kelley (formerly Panasewicz) who also works for United Hospital System. They currently live in Kenosha, WI.
Jim Oboikowitch, '02
Jim graduated in 2002 with majors in Business Administration and Marketing. While at Carthage Jim was on the Red Men basketball team and a member of TORCH. Jim currently lives in Chicago and works for the Chicago cubs.
Silvija (Redzic) Papka, '01
Silvija graduated in 2001 with a major in International Political Science. While at Carthage she was a member of Phi Theta, Tau Sigma Chi (little sister), Omicron Delta Epsilon, and Habitat for Humanity. Silvija is married to Jason Papka ’99 and they have 2 children. Silvija currently works for Snap-On.
David C. Wiers, ‘98
While at Carthage Dave played basketball and worked as a TA for economics. He was also the class speaker for the graduating class of 1998. Dave lives in Chicago where he has his own business (an energy consulting/ electricity broker firm). He is married with their first child due June 2009. Dave is involved with the Carthage College Alumni Council and is currently serving as President.
