1930's

Mary Elizabeth (Ware) Mullins, 1932, Butler, Ill., died peacefully on June 7, 2008 at the Montgomery Nursing and Rehabilitation Center south of Hillsboro. Mary was the first born to Frank S. and Nina (Grassel) Ware on April 12, 1910. She attended Butler grade school, and Hillsboro high school. She taught at Shabbona (Ill.) High School from 1932-1936. She married Alvin L. Mullins on December 27, 1935. They had four children. Alvin pre-deceased Mary on December 23, 1997. Mary leaves 8 great-grandchildren, 10 step-great-granchildren, and 3 step-great-great grandchildren. Mary is survived by a sister, Jessie (Ware) Hewitt, '34, brother, Edward F. Ware both of Hillsboro. She is pre-decieased by a brother, Arnold G. Ware, '37. She survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Mary was a member of Ware's Grove Lutheran Church, Ware's Grove community Aid, Ware Family Association, Ware's Grove-St. Paul's Lutheran Church hand bell choir, and Montgomery County Farm Bureau. She was the Ware's Grove pianist-organist for over 40 years, attended Interlochen Center for the Arts in Michigan, sponsored many youth at Lutheran music camps, and was the accompanist for numerous Lutheran youth choirs. In 1951, Mary and her family moved from DeKalb County Ill. to the Grassel homestead midway between Hillsboro and Litchfield where her mother was born. Mary loved life as a farmer's wife, her family, music, and the St. Louis Cardinals baseball team. She instilled the love of music in many young people, and was and inspiration, guiding light, and friend to all whose lives she touched.

Margaret S. (Shaver) Hallett, 1934, Madison, Wis./ Polo, Ill., age 96, widow of Norman S. Hallett, passed away on Wednesday, April 9, 2008. Margaret was born on April 5, 1912, in Bancroft, Wis., the daughter and only child of Ralph and Ethel Shaver. She grew to maturity in Polo, Ill. She began a long career in education in 1934, teaching high school in Keithsburg, Ill., Superior, Neb., Lake Mills, Wis. and New Glarus, Wis. She then took a position as a food supervisor for Stouffer Foods in Chicago. After some years, she returned to teaching and became a specialist in teaching the blind at the Light House for the Blind in Chicago and the Atlanta Area Services for the Blind in Atlanta, Ga. Upon retirement, she took up residence in Madison, and remained active in judging food and clothing events at state and county fairs, most recently in 1995. Margaret Shaver Hallett was a member of the congregation of Bethel Lutheran Church in Madison. For some years she was a resident at Sunny Hill Health Center in Madison. She is survived by a stepson, Norman F. Hallett of Honolulu; and very dear friends, Lorrie and Michael Ryan, Dorothy and Byron Peterson, and Patricia White. The Rev. Terry Wilder officiated at a simple graveside ceremony at 1 p.m. on Thursday, April 17, 2008. Margaret will be interred beside her beloved husband, Norman, in the Shaver family plot at the Fairmont Cemetery in Polo, Ill.

Mary "Kim" Kimbrough Webb, 1939, Lincoln, Ill., has had a good life with lots of travel. She spent the last fall in South Africa with her middle daughter, who teaches there. While at Carthage, she worked with Mary Newcomer's Alumni Office, and later for business manager William Krauss. She has great memories of Professors Alice Kibbe, Juanita Jones, and Archie Boatman.

1940's

Naomi (Roth) Otterbein Bryant, 1942, Penney Farms, Fla., resides in Penney Retirement Community with her husband, James. She often visits with another resident, Liliana Bartolemi, '39. Naomi is "Extended Trips and Towns" chairperson for the community and will be hosting a trip to Oberammergau, Germany in June 2010 to see the Passion Play. This will be her fifth time there to see the play. Her new e-mail is BRYANT850454@bellsouth.net. She'd like to hear from classmates.

Robert Lesher, 1948, Arlington Heights, Ill., and his wife, Ann (Winter) Lesher, '49, are living at Luther Village with several other Carthaginians. Ann is in the choir at Luther Village, and Bob is a part-time pastor at the First Methodist Church in Glen Ellyn, Ill. Their son, Rev. Robert Lester, Jr., '70, is a Lutheran pastor in Marshfield, Wis., and has earned his doctorate. Their daughter, Rev. Ruth Lesher, '75, Orinda, Caif., is studying for her doctorate at the Theological Union in Berkeley, Calif.

June I. (Schulz) Romtvedt, 1948, Baker City, Ore., May 18, 2006. June was a school teacher, homemaker, and a partner in farming in Illinois for 32 years and ranching in Oregon for 27 years. She read 4 or 5 books a week and played the piano every day. She had multiple sclerosis, but kept a very positive attitude. Eric was her caregiver for some time. She is survived by her husband, Eric Romtvedt, '50, and two sons, Paul, of Las Vegas, and Keith, of Baker City.

1950's

Peter R. Rasmussen, 1950, Lanark, Ill., Jan. 29, 2008, at FHN Memorial Hospital in Freeport, Ill. Peter was born in Woodstock, Ill. on Dec. 16, 1928, the son of Peter S. and Marian E. (Wienke) Rassmussen, '50, He attended Woodstock Community High School, graduating with the Class of 1946. Peter received his Master's Degree of Divinity from the Lutheran Theological Seminary in Chicago. Peter was united in marriage with Marian Crofton, '50, on Aug. 12, 1951, in Lanark. Peter served the Lord his entire life. He and his wife were called to serve the Lord in Japan for 40 years. They learned to walk with the people and understand Japanese culture. While they were in Japan, they served in Nagasaki prefecture, Kyoto and Takamatsu. He enjoyed participation in political debate and was a member of the League of Women Voters. Peter was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Lanark. He enjoyed reading and writing letters to friends and family. Peter loved spending time with his family and was known to be a fun-loving individual. Peter will be dearly missed by his wife, Marian of Lanark; three daughters, Fern (Robert) Fiesthumel of Fort Collins, Colo., Rebecca (Stephen) Lane of Fort Wayne, Ind., and Kristina (Koichi) Hidaka of Miyazaki, Japan; three sons, Samuel (Helen) Rasmussen of Amsterdam, Netherlands, Andrew (Maital) Rasmussen of Los Altos, Calif., and Jonathan (Michi) Rasmussen of Okinawa, Japan; 20 grandchildren; three reat-grandchildren; one sister Maryon Range of Edgerton, Wis.; and one half sister, Sally (Becky) Cissna of Milwaukee. Peter was preceded in death by his parents and one granddaughter, Praise.

Robert D. Hastings, 1950, Egg Harbor, Wis., March 24, 2008, at Door County Memorial Hospital. He was born May 7, 1928, in Highland Park, Ill., the son of Robert D. and Mabel (Nielsen) Hastings Sr. Bob graduated from Highland Park High School in 1946. In February 1948, he married Gloria D. Doull in Chicago, they moved to Egg Harbor in 1976 and purchased the Egg Harbor Lodge. She preceded him in death Jan. 28, 2004. Bob enjoyed golfing, reading, traveling, and following politics. Survivors include his five children, Robert D.(Donna) Hastings III, of Rockland, Me., Gail (William) Sutterlin, of Sturgeon Bay, Wis., Thomas (Joyce) Hastings, of Cary, Ill., Sarah (Mark) Sawyer, of Egg Harbor, and Elizabeth (Jeff) Junion,of Sturgeon Bay; 10 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; two sisters, Arlene (Dick) Klemp, of Highland Park, and Linda (Mike) Lindstrom, of Howard, Ill.; two brothers, Ray (Joan) Nielsen, of Sterling, Ill., and Bill Nielsen, of Florida. Preceding him in death were his parents; stepmother, Irene; wife, Gloria; and son, David (1998).

Margaret (Kipps) Hearne, 1951, High Point, N.C., March 24, 2008, at her residence following a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer. Mrs. Hearne was born in Madison, Wis., December 3, 1927, the daughter of Reverend Casper Allen Kipps and Bettie Pence Kipps. After she graduated with a major in Christian Education and a minor in music, Margaret moved to High Point in 1952 to begin employment as a parish worker at Emmanuel Lutheran Church where she served as organist, director of 3 choirs, church secretary, financial secretary and youth director. She retired from full-time service after 6 years to care for her elderly parents and raise her two young children. she continued part-time parish work in various roles for over 50 years. She later worked as a teacher's assistant at Montlieu Elementary School. After retiring from the school system, she kept busy with volunteer work in the community and church. She was preceded in death by her parents and two sisters, Virginia Wrigley and Jeanette Punko. Surving are her husband of 41 years, Harold; and two daughters, Jennie Margaret, of Greensboro, N. C., and Sarah Elizabeth, of High Point.

Dale Benson, 1955, New York, will appear in Sam and Bella Spewack's "My Three Angels" at New Jersey's Hunterdon Hills Playhouse from September 12 through Octotber 25, before leaving for Venice on the 26th to spend November there.

William Trees, 1956, Harrisburg, Ill., March 17, 2008. After serving in the U.S. Marines, he taught biology at Harrisburg High School for 40 years and coached basketball and track. He is survived by his wife, Geraldine (Gerber) Trees, '58, children William J., of Allen, Texas, Teri Reuss, of Davidson, N.C., Brad, of Linden, Mich., Tiffany, of Harrisburg, and Ben, of Levittown, N.Y.; and a sister, Annette Vaughn, of Cobden, Ill.

1960's

Ann (Mullins) Tindall, 1962, Largo, Fla., is retired from teaching high school physical education in Peoria, Ill. She is enjoying volunteer work at the Hospice of the Florida Suncoast, church choirs, genealogy research, and golf. She is the president of Ware Family Association, and she writes articles for the Roots and Branches newsletter. In January 2008, she had a total hip replacement to match one done in June 1999.

Janet (Lausch) Nagl, 1962, Denver, continues to travel with husband, Mike, whenever possible. They spend every March in sunny Arizona and have been able to hear the Carthage Choir on two different occasions. Janet's best friend, Diane (Hoyt) Piehl, '62, lives in Goodyear, Ariz., the two still enjoy their many memories while in Arizona.

Kirk Thompson, 1963, West Branch, Iowa, retired from ACT, Inc.in Iowa City, Iowa, after 15 years of employment.

Yvonne (Pfabe) Juhl, 1963, St. Louis, toured England and Wales as a non-student singer in the Missouri Baptist University choir. She and her husband, Bill, then spent an extra week in Scotland. The choir performed five concerts, including ones in Bath Abbey, Holy Trinity Church in Stratford-upon-Avon, and St. Bride's Church in London. In 2007, she sang Brahms' German Requiem (in German, of course) with the choir.

Barbara A. Jereb, 1966, Waukegan, Ill., retired in 2000 from the Waukegan school system. She is now a part-time teacher at Immanuel Lutheran School teaching algebra and 5th and 6th grade math and history. She is also the school librarian.

Shirley (Sandmeyer) Messing, 1967, Kenosha, Wis., is active in the Antioch (Ill.) Festival Chorus and church choir, as well as, the liturgical dance troupe at All Saints Lutheran in Fox Lake, Ill. She also helps out as a volunteer for a local food pantry in Spring Grove, Ill. She belongs to a travelling kitchen band of Senior Citizens, ages 50-89 years old,in which they sing and dance to the "oldies" and participate in funny skits to help "raise the spirits" of those in nursing and retirement homes. The group also plays for Women's Clubs, Senior Centers, civic groups, and private birthday and anniversary parties. "Our territory goes from Racine, Wis. down to Libertyville, Ill., and as far west as Lake Geneva, Wis., so we're 'on the road,' a lot!" She has 2 married sons, Brian in Rockland, Me., and Mark in Boise, Idaho. Shirley also has 2 granddaughters, Katie, who is in her first year of college in Boston, and Collette, who is in her 3rd year of high school in Rockland.

Myrtle (Parrill) Darland, 1967, Waukegan, Ill.,December 1, 2007, at the age of 96. She was very proud to have received her BS Degree in June of 1967.

1970's

John Karnatz, 1970, Park Ridge, Ill., and Pam (Werkheiser) Karnatz would like to say hi to all their Carthage friends, particularly former Kappa Chi and Tau Delta Psi "old comrades!" John is a certified public accountant, Pam teaches at St. Andrew Lutheran School in Park Ridge and Oakton Community College in Des Plaines, Ill.

Charles Nystrom, 1971, Waukegan, Ill., has retired from the College of Lake County, after 36 years as an associate professor. In 1969, he transferred in credits from another college and a junior college, to complete his B.A. using the G.I. Bill. Since he had a wife and child, he never attended any activities, no ball games, dances or even concerts. He worked second shift six nights a week, and lived in Illinois. Again we have veterans coming home from a way that some find distastful. He hopes that they will be greeted on campus more warmly than he was. In April 1994, he retired from the U.S. Army Reserves with the rank of Major.

Michael Connor, 1971, Greendale, Wis., retired after 33 years in education. He was a teacher and coach for 13 years and an administrator for 20 years, finishing that career as a school principal. Mike taught science grades 7-10, and coached wrestling with no losing seasons. His son, Michael Josef Connor, just completed his first year of college at UW- Milwaukee. His twins, Tiki and Emmi, turn 3 years old on Halloween.

Bob McCormac, 1972, Broken Arrow, Okla., is one of 30 teachers from around the country selected to particpate in the National Endowment for the Humanities summer institute "Multiple Perspectives on the Holocaust". This institute is five weeks long and includes stops at the Holocaust Museum in Washington, Prague, Berlin, Krakow, Auschwitz, Thereseinstadt and Ravensbruck concentration camps. He was also selected to umpire at the Amateur Softball Association 12 and under girls fastpitch softball national championship in August.

E. David Matthaidess II, 1972, Wausau, Wis., June 6, 2008. Mr. Matthaidess died in Boston of a heart attack, surrounded by family after attending his son's graduation from Harvard the previous day. David grew up in Carthage, Ill. His father, Edwin, taught German, Greek, and Latin at Carthage and the family moved to Kenosha when the campus relocated. He belonged to the Delta Omega Nu fraternity. Dave joined the Army at 17 and spent 36 years on active duty and in the National Guard and Army Reserve. Moving through the ranks to Master Sergeant (E-8), he received a direction commission and retired as a Major (0-4). In the business world, he was recently a VP of Operations and COO of Garelick Products Co., a marine products manufacturing company. He held a master's degree in modern studies from Loyola College (Md.) and a graduate degree from the U.S. Army Command and Gerneral Staff College. He is survived by his mother, Vinita, of Racine, Wis.; wife, Kathy; and two children, Edwin III (Kellie), of Gainesville, Va., and Cherie (Brian '01) Robison, '01, of Kenosha, and one grandson, David Tate Matthaidess.

Rodney Walker, 1973, Milwaukee, and Jackie Walker would like to introduce Jarodd William, born December 18, 2007. He joins a sister, Dorci Leigh (age 3).

Jan (Whitehouse) Weems, 1974, Burlington, Wis., taught 1st grade in Burlington for 13 years, then moved to the Chicago area to raise a family. Now she is back in Burlington, with her husband Joe and her youngest daughter Kikki who is graduating from high school this June. Her oldest daughter Susanna, is married to Lee Fenlon. They have four lively little boys: David, Zachary, Daniel and William. Her husband's daughter has 4 children as well, "so we are grandparents X 8 !! In my spare time, (ha-ha) I keep busy with belly dance classes, as well as ballet, yoga and pilates." She is very interested in herbalism, and has a large herb garden from which she creates her own teas, salves and other healing things. Joe retired a few years ago. Last year, they bought a mom-and-pop drive in, The Outdoor, in Burlington, and are now preparing for another busy summer season. Drop by and say hi if you are in the area !

The Rev. John A. Clausen, 1974, Tiffin, Ohio., recently had a Palm Sunday anthem: "Hosanna to our Savior King," published by Morning Star Publishers. He is presently completing a collection of new hymn texts he has composed over the past 18 years. John serves as pastor at Saint John Lutheran Church, Deshler, Ohio.

Jeffrey Wedge, 1974, Port Orange, Fla., announces the recent publication of two books. "More Stole Patterns" provides various stole designs and frames for those interested in needlework. "Dramatic Church Shorts" contains short drama scripts, and is dedicated to Doc Holland and the Theater Department at Carthage. Judy (Schmidtke) Latman, 1975, Westmont, Ill., has retired from the Lindop school district in June, after 34 years of teaching 1st grade, to join her retired husband, Steve. Perhaps consulting or mentoring might be in her future.

William Fergus Jr., 1976, Racine, Wis., March 3, 2008, at Wheaton Franciscan Healthcare-All Saints. He was a lifelong resident of Racine, born on Dec. 21, 1953, to William L. and Dolores J. (Stump) Fergus. Surviving are his wife, Martha (Keller) Fergus, '77; two sons, William L. Fergus III and Thomas A. Fergus; mother, Delores Fergus; brothers, Scott (Sandra) Fergus and Jeff Fergus; and sister, Lisa (Greg) Heal. He was preceded in death by his father, William Fergus Sr., '50.

David Rehm, 1976, Mundelein, Ill., retired in 2001 after serving 20 years as VP and CFO for Wells Lamont Corporation. In 2003 he jointly formed Brightview Limited (www.btvw.com) with his long time Hong Kong colleague Frank Lam. Brightview facilitates business relationships between US and Chinese companies, with products and services moving in both directions across the Pacific.

Miriam (Johnson) Englund, 1977, NoneLibertyville, Ill., is currently working as an ICU nurse. In June, she will celebrate 30 years working as an RN at Evanston Northwestern Healthcare, Highland Park (Ill.) Hospital.

Terri Hilt, 1977, Glen Ellyn, Ill., retired in 2006 from Delta Air Lines with 29 years of service and moved from Peachtree City, Ga. She is now a teacher's aide in the special education department of Glenbard West High School, her alma mater. Her son Luke is a chiropractor at the Gold's Gym in Woodstock, Ga.

Andrea (Andy Rinne) O'Reilly, 1979, Rochelle, Ill.,and her family recently moved from Lemont, Ill. to enjoy the country life on a farm. Andy is working for Rochelle Township High School. Andy and her husband Dan have 2 daughters. Katy is 16 and participates in cross country, basketball, and soccer. Mady is 14. She will be joining Katy at RTHS in the fall. Mady plays volleyball, basketball, and runs track. Both girls enjoy swimming in the summer swim team too. The O'Reillys have a couple of horses, a potbelly pig, and a miniature donkey. Andy likens her lifestyle to the TV show Green Acres.

Craig Gaitan, 1979, Dublin, Ohio, has been appointed to the J.D. Power and Associates Advisory Board for Insurance and Financial Services. Craig is employed by Nationwide Insurance at their headquarters in Columbus, Ohio, as a Director of Acquisitions. Craig and his wife Teresita have three children.

1980's

Eileen Gallo, 1980, Kenosha, Wis., says she "continues to enjoy the campus- everything from the beautiful setting, to the library, to the concerts. My grandchildren are very familiar with the campus and often ask me to bring them there. Future Carthaginians?"

Cindy (Steffen) Kuszewski, 1980, Franklin, Wis., and her husband, Matthew, have five children; Seth, 9, Nathan, 11, Rachel, 13, Caytlin, 14, and Jacob, 16. Cindy taught special education for 23 years in the Wautoma and St. Francis, Wis. public schools. For the past seven years, Cindy has devoted her life to winning her personal battle over advanced ovarian cancer. She has undergone multiple courses of chemotherapy, many extensive surgeries, and a stem cell transplant. Last October, she was also diagnosed with a blood cancer and required additional chemotherapy, radiation, and a bone marrow transplant. She is currently home, recovering and looking forward to returning to parenting and doing what she can to help "stomp out" ovarian cancer. Cindy's mission is to reach a many patients, physicican, and congressmen and women as possible with a message of urgency for research and education, and HOPE for a cure. She credits her survival to her faith in prayer and belief that with God, all things are possible. Friends and family have set up a fund to help defray the extrememly high cost of Cindy's medical treatment. Ronald Lee Heinz, 1981, Black River Falls, Wis., Aug. 27, 2007, at Sam's House in Black River Falls surrounded by his family. A long, courageous battle with Huntington's Disease claimed his life. He was born April 18, 1959, in Black River Falls to Donald and Vivian (Olson) Heinz. He was baptized and confirmed at Evangelical Lutheran Church. Ron attended Black River Falls schools. He received the Badger Boys award. After graduation from Carthage, he went to Madison to write for the Wisconsin Legislature. After receiving his master's degree from Syracuse University in 1984, he worked as a budget analyst for General Electric until illness forced him to return to the Midwest. Ron's musical talent started with the high school band where he was the drum major. He loved to sing and participated in "Tell It Like It Is," Madrigal and toured Europe with the Carthage College Choir. He sang in "Spirit of the Song" in Syracuse, N.Y., and was a member of the Windy City Chorus in Chicago. Ron loved to travel. His big travel highlight was duriing his junior year of high school when he and his friend, Randy Smelser, made a trip to Rome. Being a member of Huntington Society of America, he went to Kansas and Boston for the conventions. He was an avid sports fan, the Packers, Badgers, and Brewers received all of his enthusiasm. Always kind and loving life, his happy smile at gatherings with family and friends will be missed by many. Ron is survived by his mother, Vivian of Black River Falls; a sister, Lynda Heinz of Black River Falls; a brother, Roger (Katie) Heinz of Black River Falls; a nephew Kristopher Heinz of Black River Falls ; a niece, Kari (Wade) Mildred Hanevold of Blair; and numerous cousins and other relatives. He was preceded in death by his father and grandparents, Earl and Hazel Olson and George and Leone Heinz.

David Graves, 1985, West Bend, Wis., is employed by Sysco Foods in Jackson, Wis. as a forklift operator, mainly in the freezer. He was the last forklift champion for the local rodeo, and one of the last participants in the National Rodeo. He also sings in senior choir at church, plays trumpet and directs the handchime choir. He is also a confirmation mentor. He serves on the Band Boosters for the West Bend High Schools as secretary, chaperones the marching band, and even plays in the football pep band and Brass, Wind & Fire (basketball pep band). He is also the bands' announcer for all concerts and the marching band field show. This past school year, he was even a member of an 8th grade band at his daughter Allie's middle school as they only had 2 trumpet players.

Jeanne (Gleitsman) Gierke, 1985, North Charleston, S. C., was named "Teacher of the Year" for 2008 at Windsor Hill Elementary School in North Charleston. She is a music teacher and choral director.

William J. Anderson, 1986, Leland Grove, Ill., April 19, 2008. He was born on September 18, 1964 in Elmhurst, Ill., to Reverend John W. and Janice E. Anderson. He owned Anderson Legislative Consulting, a government consulting firm. He began his career in politics as a legislative staffer for House Speaker Michael Madigan. Bill met and married coworker Letitia Dewith. Their marriage was rooted in their faith, their family, and their deep friendship. They prayed together and they laughed together. They raised two wonderful children; Taylor K. and Allison Fritz. Bill leaves behind his parents, his wife, his children; and his sister, Sara Schmitt, a paternal grandmother, Marjorie Ruth Anderson, over 60 nephews and nieces - many of whom he helped to raise; and, his mother-in-law, Juanita S. Barton. Bill always looked on the bright side of life. He had an infectious positive attitude; oftentimes, comforting those who came to comfort him during his many treatments of chemotherapy, radiation, and blood and plasma transfusions. Through it all, his sunny disposition never once waned and his physical weakness never prevented him from sharing in his children's lives. Bill never missed one of his daughter's basketball games or volleyball games, nor did he miss his son's graduation from college in California. Known for his amicable approach toward all people and situation, Bill actively demonstrated the teachings of the Lord. He warmly and openly gave comfort, inspiration, and advice. He was quick to be of assistace to anyone in need. Bill will be missed greatly by all those whose path he crossed.

Rev. Dr. Michael E. Thomas, 1988, Crystal Lake, Ill., received his Doctorate in Ministry in Preaching from the Lutheran School of Theology at Chicago on May 18, 2008. His thesis was titled: Preaching to Seekers: Teaching and Telling the Story of THE Seeker. His wife Tammy (Hoyt) Thomas, '90, is an adjunct professor at McHenry County College. Their children are Maggie, 4, and Nathan, 6. Pastor Thomas has been serving Living Waters Lutheran Church in Crystal Lake, Ill. since 1998.

David L. Maack, 1988, Racine, Wis., received Leadership Racine's 2008 Community Trustee award. David is a graduate of the first Leadership Racine class and the first graduate to receive this award. Susan (Dayton) Schall, 1993, La Crosse, Wis, earned her master's degree in education with an emphasis in professional development from the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse in May 2008. Susan is entering her 12th year teaching Spanish and algebra at Longfellow Middle School in La Crosse.

Dr. Robert G. Kellermann, D.C., 1995, Deer Park, Ill., is a chiropractor and has an office in Lake Zurich, Ill. He would love to hear from classmates.

Sarah (Bernarde) Serigos, 1995, Hales Corners, Wis., and her husband, George, '97, announce the birth of their daughter, Elizabeth Alma Marie Serigos, born February 12, 2008. She was welcomed by big brother Aris and big sister Nina.

Carole (Burg) Stevenson, 1995, Houston, married Rob Stevenson on May 26, 2007. The couple met at the University of Texas where they both graduated in 2000 with MBAs. They honeymooned for a week in Maui. The Maid of honor was Stacie Cronberg, '95. Carole will be attending Baylor College of Medicine in Houston and is scheduled to graduate in December 2010 with a MS in physician assistant studies.

Jason and Karen (Wrubbel) Kunschke, 1996, Mequon, Wis., announce the birth of their daughter Tessa Ruth on April 23, 2007. She joins sister Clare, 4. Jason is an attorney at Michael Best and Friedrich in Milwaukee. Karen is a teacher at Homestead High School in Mequon.

Dan Dornfeld, 1996, Bismarck, N.D., and Leigh Carter were married December 28, 2007 at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Bismarck. The wedding party included Eric Gribble, '97. Dan is a pastor at Good Shepherd with a master of divinity degree from Luther Seminary, St. Paul, Minn. The bride is an elementary teacher for Bismarck public schools.

David Rybarik, 1996, Racine, Wis., and his wife, Cara (Bowman) Rybarik, '98, are excited to announce the birth of their daughter Sydney Ann. Born May 12, 2008, Sydney joins big brother, Bryce Nolan, 3, and big sister Grace Elizabeth, 11.

Ralph Ten Bruin, 1997, Johnsburg, Ill., and wife Jan announce the birth of their daughter Madeline (Maddie) Elise Ten Bruin on May 21, 2007. In August 2007, Ralph was promoted to Commodity manager and in January 2008 celebrated his 10th anniversary at Weber-Stephen.

Maureen Conklin, 1997, Ann Arbor, Mich., married Fenton Campbell,'98, after fourteen years of friendship and love, on Sept. 22, 2007, in Holly, Mich. Fenton is the eldest son of President and Mrs. Campbell, and Maureen attended Carthage as a Lincoln Scholar. The new Mr. and Mrs. Campbell enjoyed a Florida honeymoon.

Kary (Blome) Blome-Anderson, 1997, Sturgeon Bay, Wis., and Scott Anderson were married Feb. 2 at St. Peter's Lutheran Church in Sturgeon Bay. Kary works for Associated Bank. Scott is co-owner of Shore to Shore Rental and Storage.

Marta (Larson) Wesenick, 1997, New London, Wis., and her husband, Dan, announce the birth of their first child, Henry Charles, in Libertyville Ill. in January 2007. Since that time, they have relocated to be closer to family. Marta continues to work for Wright Line of Boston, as a senior independent consultant, and Dan now works for Sturm Foods in Manawa, Wis. as a distribution manager. The picture included is Henry in Chrissy Field during our most recent trip to San Francisco.

Ryan and Darcy (Allen) Foltyniewicz, 2000, Apple Valley, Minn., are delighted to announce the birth of their daughter, Hannah Sophia. She was born March 9, 2008, and is never short on hugs and kisses from her big brothers Zachary and Landon.

Chris Gochis, 2000, Northbrook, Ill., and wife, Sylvia (Thompson) Gochis, '00, are proud to announce the birth of their daughter Sophia Lynne. She was born on October 27, 2007. Sophia joins her big sister Paige.

Russ Nowak, 2000, Lockport, Ill., and his wife, Carrie (Buffa) Nowak,'00, are proud to announce the birth of their daughter, Caitlynn Ann, on March 21, 2008 in Naperville, Ill. She joins big sister Corinne, 2.

Kathy (Sarosiek) Tennant, 2001, DePere,Wis., had a busy 2007. She graduated with her master's in educational technology from Lesley University and then welcomed her first child. Brayden Timothy Tennant on Memorial Day, May 28, 2007. Brayden was 6 lbs 14oz 19" long.

Jorie Fogerty, 2003, Algonquin, Ill., has received her master's of education from Judson University. She teaches 7th grade science at Eastview Middle School in Bartlett, Ill.

Jenna L. (Deaton) Pitts, 2003, Kenosha, Wis., and Michael J. Pitts were married on March 17, 2007 in Siebert Chapel at Carthage. The reception was held immediately after the ceremony on the third floor of the Tarble Athletic and Recreation Center. Many Carthage alumni participated in the ceremony. The mother of the bride is Janice (Ryden) Deaton, '74, and the father of the bride is W. Craig Deaton, '72. The father of the groom is Michael A. Pitts, '72. The groomsman was Kyle C. Deaton, '05, and the scripture reader was Christine Ryden, '70. 2008 marks the 25-year anniversary of the Deaton family business, Gateway Mortgage Corportation. The Deaton famiy also recently celebrated their two- year anniversary of owning Oliver's Bakery. Both businesses are located in Kenosha.

Aaron Kohlmeier, 2003, Kenosha, Wis., and Nicole (Carson) Kohlmeier, '04, joyfully announce the birth of their baby girl, Ella Rose Kohlmeier. She was born March 1, 2008 in Kenosha. She weighed 6 lbs 7 oz. and was 19" long.

Christina Wright, 2004, Shakopee, Minn., is pleased to announce her engagement to Patrick Bruff of Flemington, N.J. Christina is completing a master's degree at the Woodrow Wilson School of Public and International Affairs at Princeton University, and Patrick is working at Clinton Honda and volunteering as a firefighter. They are planning a wedding for July 4, 2009.

Michael Boros, 2004, Arlington Heights, Ill., married Christine Francis, '04 (St. Norbert College), on May 31, 2008 at Saint Raymond Church in Mount Prospect, Ill. The wedding party included Carthage alumni Hillard Wozniel Jr., '02, and Aaron Price, '04. The wedding reception was held at the Wellington of Arlington. Christine is working at Cardio Medical as an account representative in finance. Michael is working at the Chicago Medical Society as the project coordinator of member services and attending Roosevelt University, Chicago working on his master's in integrated marketing communications.

Brad Hentschel, 2005, Chippewa Falls, Wis., recently joined professional consulting servies firm Short Elliott Hendrickson Inc.'s (SEH) Chippewa Falls office as a community development specialist. His responsiblilities include assisting communities with comprehensive planning, grant writing and administration, tax increment finance funding, and impact fee needs assessment preparation. Hentschel holds a master's degree in urban planning and a master's degreee in public administration from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee.

Katherine (Salte) Nunez, 2006, Gurnee, Ill.,and Roberto Nunez were married on June 16, 2007 in Las Vegas. The wedding was attended by close family and friends. Katie works as a scientist at Abbott Laboratories and Rob works as a teacher's assistant with behavior disorder students.
