David Neff begins his second year as head men’s lacrosse coach in 2010 (3-7, 1 year). A native of Waukegan, Ill., Neff served as the coach of the Benedictine University (Ill.) club team in 2007, as well as an assistant coach for Team Illinois in both 2006 and 2007. From 2005 to 2006, he coached the club team at St. Charles High School in St. Charles, Ill. Prior to that, he coached the club team at Neuqua Valley High School in Naperville, Ill., from 2000 to 2004 and was named the Illinois High School Lacrosse Association “Coach of the Year” in 2002.
Neff received a bachelor’s in finance from the University of Illinois in 1995 and a master’s in business administration, also from Illinois, in 1998. Neff was a member of the Illini club lacrosse team and a 1997 United State Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association all-star. He has been active in several Chicago-area summer camps, including Lacrosse America youth clinics. His father, John Neff, graduated from Carthage in 1963 and was a 1997 inductee into the Illinois High School Football Coaches Hall of Fame. David and his wife, Erin, reside in Kenosha, Wis.
Mike Silva begins his second year as a graduate assistant coach in 2010. Silva served as a student assistant coach at Fontbonne University in 2008. A native of St. Louis, Mo., he also played lacrosse at Fontbonne in 2007 and at Lindenwood University in from 2004 to 2006. Silva coached the Missouri elite traveling team, the St. Louis Samurai, and assisted at Clayton High School in 2007 and 2008. He graduated from Fontbonne in 2008 with a bachelor’s in sport management and is currently completing work on his master’s in education at Carthage.
Sean Farrell begins his second year as a part-time assistant coach in 2010. A native of Seaford, N.Y., Farrell served in the U.S. Navy from 2004 to 2008. He played lacrosse at Adelphi College in 2000, Nassau Community College in 2001 and at Stony Brook University in both 2002 and 2003. Farrell also served as an assistant coach for the Long Island Sting from 2000 to 2003. He is currently completing work on his bachelor’s in European history at Wisconsin-Parkside.
