Social Work

Admission Requirements

To apply for admission into the Social Work Program, students must:

  • Have completed SocW 210 and 220 with a grade of B or better
  • Have a cumulative GPA of 2.75 on a 4.0 scale
  • Turn in the Admission Form *
  • Submit 3 References with the appropriate forms *
  • Complete a Declaration-of-Major form with the Registrar's Office
  • Obtain a copy of current transcript (unofficial copy is acceptable at no charge from the Registrar's Office)
  • Complete the Writing Skills Assessment administered by the Writing Center
  • Be assigned a Social Work Department faculty advisor
  • Schedule an admissions interview with Social Work faculty committee . to be held in late Fall or late Spring

To maintain enrollment in the Social Work Program, students must:

  • Maintain a cumulative GPA of 2.75
  • Earn no lower than a "C-" in all social work courses

To be accepted into Senior Level Courses:

  • Faculty will review students' evaluations and commitment to pursue Senior Field Placement
  • Students must demonstrate social work skills, values and ethics*

Termination from the program is based on the student's failure to demonstrate professional conduct and relationship skills and behavior consistent with the values and ethics of the profession.
