Students For a Fair Wisconsin
In the fall of 2006, two social work students created the Carthage College chapter of the Students For a Fair Wisconsin campaign. This campaign was organized in opposition to the proposed Marriage Amendment to the Wisconsin Constitution that would effectively terminate the rights of same-sex couples and heterosexual couples living in domestic partnership arrangements. Adopting the slogan, "A Fair Wisconsin Votes No," the participated in on-campus debates, put up posters, sent out mailings and held meetings to raise awareness of the issue. In addition, group members canvassed door-to-door off campus to discuss the issue with local voters.
Many students spent Election Day doing final canvassing of neighborhoods to bring voters out. As the polls closed that night, members were disappointed to find that the amendment passed throughout the state. The Fair Wisconsin campaign, however, was credited with bringing a large number of citizens to the polls, which were responsible for the large Democratic turnover the state legislative body experienced that fall.
Safe Haven Holiday Basket Fundraiser
Students held a fundraiser to benefit Safe Haven of Racine, Wisconsin. All of the money raised went to feed local families for the Thanksgiving and Christmas holidays. Phi Alpha, Social Work Club, United Women of Color, and many other student groups raised or donated money to the cause.

Domestic Violence Awareness Skit
Members of Social Work Advocates for the Kommunity (SWAK) performed a skit at a local Domestic Violence Awareness Rally. Approximately 90 Kenosha citizens attended the rally. By using a wordless skit set to music, the message of the skit became universal and transcended language and age barriers.
