Embracing these objectives is made possible in part by the financial support of alumni and friends of the College. The College’s goal this year is to raise $1 million from annual giving. This goal is only met with your help.
Through the Carthage Annual Fund, alumni, parents and friends of the College unite to support the College’s vision. Their investments yield a stronger college and talented graduates that begin to shape the world when they enter the workforce.
As traditional sources of funding for financial aid decrease, students are relying more on Carthage for scholarship money. Carthage has recognized this need and strives to provide the opportunity to all students despite their financial situation. Gifts to the Annual Fund directly support student financial aid as well as enable campus enhancements, recruit superb professors, and offer the many special programs that distinguish Carthage as a top-level liberal arts college.
We also seek to increase the number of people who give to the Annual Fund each year. The number of annual donors — those who give gifts small or large every year — is a key measure of the strength of Carthage. It is one of the first numbers foundations examine when determining whether to continue or increase support of the College.
Even small gifts add up in a big way. It's only together that we can make a difference.
"In our hearts Carthage is more than a school, it’s a mission and journey defined by experiences and ideas.""We feel the bulk of people educated at Carthage have sacrificed tremendously in several areas of their lives to reach goals, and giving annually is a continuation of that. In our hearts, Carthage is more than a school, it’s a mission and journey defined by experiences and ideas. Giving significantly (whether it's $100 or $10,000) is challenging for all of us, but we view the responsibility as re-investing in our community's power to build foundations and transform lives past, present and future. Our mentors were right; if we give, we will receive."

What would you say is Carthage's greatest strength?
"Carthage's greatest strength lies within the opportunities the College offers. Coming into college, many students find themselves without any idea of what major they will choose. I, myself, went through three different majors, but in the end I found a field I truly enjoy. Professors at Carthage are very knowledgeable in their areas of study and are willing to personally communicate with students to help them find where they should be. Even after you find where you are, the small size of the school allows you to explore the possibilities of your field."
What would you say to an alumnus contemplating a gift?
Just do it. Giving to Carthage helps provide everything from facilities to learning materials. Your gifts provide students an opportunity to learn and expand. In turn, they will probably return the favor for years to come.
