Advisors of the College

Carthage's six Advisory Committees serve to foster communication between the College and the civic and professional communities. While ties are particularly strong to the Kenosha/Racine area, they also extend to the greater Milwaukee and Chicago metropolitan areas and, by extension, across the country and around the world.

Every member of each Advisory Committee is elected by the Trustees of the College. The Trustees seek to install on each Committee civic and business leaders whose personal contacts in, and leadership contributions to, the ir respective fields are relevant to each academic division at Carthage -- Education, Fine Arts, Humanities, Natural Sciences, and Social Sciences -- and to the programs in the Career Center and the School of Professional Studies.

Advisory Committees provide assurance that the work of the College continues and prospers. In their meetings, Committee members learn about the latest results of teaching and research in the various academic divisions of the College. Their reactions and suggestions, in turn, help faculty members and students understand public perceptions of the work carried forward at the College, and guide the faculty and administration in forging together the common goal of making Carthage one of the nation's premier private colleges in the near future.

Each Committee meets once each academic term. All committees meet jointly in a social setting during the summer. Advisors serve three-year terms, and may be re-elected indefinitely.

The Committees report directly to the Board of Trustees, and therefore each Committee usually is chaired by a member of the Board. The Trustees receive reports of the activities of each Committee at each Board me eting.
