The Carthage Business and Professional Coalition will launch its 2022-23 luncheon series with a talk by manufacturing and tech expert Travis Hessman, whose 18-year history as editor-in-chief of trade publications Industry Week and New Equipment Design magazines places him at the vanguard of the Industry 4.0 revolution.

This free event will be held Thursday, Oct. 27, in Todd Wehr Center Jockey Rooms A and B. Lunch will be served at 11:30 a.m., and the program will begin at noon.

About Travis Hessman

Travis Hessman Travis Hessman Part futurist and part manufacturing tech geek, Mr. Hessman has built his career reporting on the rise of the new digital manufacturing revolution. From artificial intelligence and 3D printing to the Internet of Things and industrial wearables, Mr. Hessman brings with him a wealth of history and perspective on the new tools and tech posed to disrupt the course of the industry and spur a new rise in U.S. manufacturing.

Currently vice president of content at Endeavor Media, Mr. Hessman offers a unique perspective that matches this high-tech energy with insights from his daily contact with some of the world’s most successful and innovative manufacturers about real-life implementations, applications, and strategies for digital transformation success. He will speak on the topic of artificial intelligence in light industrial manufacturing, a topic of special interest to our region. 

“Travis Hessman offers compelling takes on the future of manufacturing, ranging from artificial intelligence to the Internet of Things and cybersecurity and beyond,” says President John Swallow. “We’re thrilled to have him talk at Carthage.”

While on campus, Mr. Hessman will also speak to students studying engineering, game development, and creative writing.
