Target Language Experts, or TLEs, are young university graduates from around the world who are hired by the College to teach introductory language and advanced conversation courses.

“¡Hola! My name is Lina Malagón. I am from Bogotá, Colombia. I have a bachelor’s degree in modern languages and a master’s degree in ELT and autonomous learning environments. In Colombia, I worked as an English and natural science teacher in schools. Moreover, I was in charge of the foreign languages area of the school. I am excited to be part of this fantastic and beautiful college because I am sharing my culture and teaching my language. I am also grateful to have the opportunity to study abroad and learn from you all. I am an easy-going and respectful person. I like traveling, dancing, music, and learning languages. I hope we can learn from each other and have a great experience!”

Itzel Rodriguez

My name is Itzel Rodriguez, and I’m from Michoacán, located in Western Mexico, which is such a beautiful and calm estate known because of its local candies, ‘carnitas’ (local food), and beautiful views. I have a degree in industrial engineering, and now I’m doing a Master of Education degree while teaching Spanish at Carthage. I speak Spanish, which is my native language, English, and very basic Korean. I love music, movies, reading, and talking with people from different cultures. My love for languages and cultures has been with me since I was a kid, so I am looking forward to an exhilarating time in Carthage. I hope we all can have a great time sharing our cultures and supporting each other. ¡Adiós!”

Dulce Baez Vasquez

“¡Hola! My name is Dulce Báez. I am from Hermosillo, Sonora — a captivating city in northwest Mexico known for its scorching hot weather and beautiful desert. Prior to joining Carthage, I majored in English language teaching, and in 2021, I won the Fulbright Scholarship to be a foreign language teaching assistant of Spanish at the University of Arkansas at Monticello for a year. I’m currently pursuing a Master of Education at Carthage. I’m fueled by a love for travel, meeting new people, and sampling diverse cuisines. I’m eagerly looking forward to my journey at Carthage, and I am excited to show you the magic of Spanish and the vibrant Mexican culture. See you all in the classroom!”

Lucia Muniagurria

“Hola! My name is Lucia, and I am from Buenos Aires, Argentina. I’m a singer, and I have a bachelor’s degree in musical arts with a focus in classical singing. I’m now pursuing my master’s degree in music education here at Carthage. I have always loved languages and cultural exchange. I think Carthage is an excellent place to learn and grow professionally and personally while living in a community with many international people.
