The Public Relations Student Society of America (PRSSA) is the foremost organization for students interested in public relations and communications. With over 300 chapters across the country, you’re invited to join Carthage’s PRSSA chapter right here on campus.

PRSSA meets from noon to 1 p.m. on the second Wednesday of each month, in Lentz Hall 220. Join us for our next meeting on Wednesday, Oct. 12. Lunch is provided!

Club meetings include talking about current events in the PR world, hearing from PR professionals in the workforce, and attending national PRSSA events. In past years, students have taken excursions to Milwaukee and Chicago to visit PR firms, and this fall, we are looking to attend student conferences at different colleges throughout the midwest.

An especially exciting update in the club is our newest venture — “SOCIAL by PRSSA” — a real-world PR opportunity for PRSSA members to hire out their services to other clubs on campus. Services include event planning, social media management, photography, marketing, and anything else connected to communications. This is a fantastic opportunity to gain experience as a PR professional and is something you can add to your resume that will make you stand out to employers.

Being able to tell future employers that you were connected with PRSSA bears a lot of weight in the PR community. PRSSA is a highly respected organization, and many Carthage graduates have gotten internships and jobs because of their connections with PRSSA.
