Friends, colleagues, and students — we did it!

Jane Anderson Spencer ?80 celebrates the success of Giving Tuesday! I am thrilled to share that we surpassed our Giving Tuesday goal to raise $17,500 in honor of Carthage’s 175th Birthday! Not only did we exceed our goal, we nearly tripled it, bringing in over $50,000 for our students!

Together, we raised money for teletherapy services to support mental health and wellness on campus and for multiple scholarships to help relieve students of the burden of affording a quality education. We also nearly tripled our goal towards our Wiggan-Kenniebrew Scholarships for multicultural students who demonstrate a commitment to the African American community.

In addition, we increased support for academic programs, such as the Pathway to College Program designed for middle and high school students to participate in a two-week immersion experience at Carthage, and the Chell Scholars Fund for Undergraduate Research in Math that pairs students with a faculty member through Carthage’s Summer Undergraduate Research Experience.

I feel so grateful to be a part of such a caring community that believes in making a lasting impact for our Firebirds. Time to celebrate!
