“At Carthage, I don’t feel unheard, like I would have been if I were in a huge lecture hall or a big college campus.”

Why Carthage?

“I chose Carthage for its smaller class sizes so that I could have one-on-one connections with my professors. The campus is clean and easy to get around. The location is not too far from my hometown but just far enough that I feel like I can get an authentic college experience.”

Faculty mentors

The Carthage faculty have impacted me by being available and resourceful when I have questions or need help with projects. I enjoy knowing my professors and them really knowing me as a student. At Carthage, I don’t feel unheard, like in a huge lecture hall or a bigger college. Each professor is very accommodating and can direct you towards your goals. I really enjoy the Arts Department, as well as my favorite professor, Jojin Van Winkle.”

Campus involvement

“I’m the co-founder and president of the Carthage Weightlifting Club. I’m also a member of the Carthage Film Association and Carthage’s chapter for The National Society of Leadership and Success.”

Golden opportunities

“Other opportunities have I have had at Carthage include the Summer Undergraduate Research Experience or the SURE program. I am performing research called ‘Art-Historical and Contextual Research on Carthage’s Sam and Berry Shoen Collection of Soviet Art’ with Professor Robin Holmes and another student.”

Career goal

“My career goal is to work in government internationally utilizing my English, Spanish, and Russian to help countries affected by conflicts.”

Best tip for making friends

“The best way to make friends at Carthage is to get involved within any club or organization that you are passionate about. If Carthage doesn’t have it, you can make it a club.”
