How have Carthage faculty had an impact on your life or Carthage career?
“The nursing faculty members at Carthage understand how difficult nursing school can be, and they work with you to make sure you are successful in your classes. They are witty, fun, and make learning enjoyable. The professors are always open and willing to talk with students, which has contributed to my personal success.”
Campus involvement
“I was president of the Carthage Association of Nursing Students (CANS). I loved this position, and I am super excited to see where the organization goes this upcoming year with the new e-board. Additionally, I am a member of one of the national sororities here at Carthage, Alpha Chi Omega. I recently got elected onto the e-board, which is super exciting! I am also in the Honors Program and am involved in the National Society of Leadership and Success (NSLS). My membership in these organizations have helped me grow in my leadership skills while also giving me the opportunity to meet new people, form new relationships, and get involved on campus in various ways.”
Internships or on-campus employment
“I work as a nursing clinical lab assistant in the Nursing Learning Laboratories on campus. I started out as a clerical assistant and worked my way up. I help nursing students learn and master important skills. I love this job! It helps me solidify my knowledge by teaching and helping others.”
What would your 8-year-old self think of you now?
“When I was 8 years old, I remember knowing I wanted to have a job that would benefit and help others. My 8-year-old self would be super proud of my current career path, as being a nurse is such an honor. I believe that my calling is to work in the healthcare field, and being a nurse is where I am meant to end up in life.”
Why Carthage?
“I chose Carthage because of the direct-entry nursing program. This allowed me to not have to worry about competing with others in my program in order to secure a spot, like larger colleges. Instead, we all started out on our nursing path at the same time and work through it together!”
