J-Term

J-Term is a month-long period of study in January in which all academic departments at Carthage offer innovative courses on campus, as well as study tours in other countries. J-Term study tours are also offered closer to home.

Internships

Internships to enhance skills and knowledge in animation can be developed with Carthage’s Aspire Program™. Students can apply for the Tarble Internship Grant, which is designed to offset the costs of unpaid internships for students in financial need, so they can take full advantage of the learning and experience gained through valuable internship opportunities.

Animation students can work in the computer lab located in Hedberg Library. FAcilities

Adobe Creative Cloud Programs, Blender, and other animation software are also available in the Hedberg Library’s Saemann Computer Lab. The lab offers Mac desktop computers and several PC computer workstations with Cintiq 24 inch tablets. The Art Department offers Xencelabs pen tablets for 2D and 3D animation courses. For stop motion animation projects, students can check our DSLR cameras and tripods form the CAVE (Carthage Audio Video Equipment) space. 

Student exhibit Opportunities

Students at Carthage have many opportunities to show their work. The Student Art Gallery in the Campbell Student Union exhibits mainly two-dimensional work, including photographs, drawings, paintings, and illustrations. 

In addition, the H. F. Johnson Gallery of Art houses student exhibits during the year, including the Annual Student Art Exhibition. Previous exhibitions included student work in photographs, video art, short films, animations, and sound art, along with drawings, paintings, sculptures, ceramics, and other art mediums.
