Carthage has major and minor programs in more than 75 areas of study, but for those students with special interests, Carthage offers the opportunity to design your own major/minor programs. Here’s a look at some of the majors students have designed (with consultation with faculty) in the past few years:

  • Adaptive Exercise Science
  • Advertising
  • Athletic Communications
  • Business Technology
  • Commercial Design
  • Data Analysis (Data Science is a major and minor at Carthage)
  • Dance (Dance is a minor at Carthage)
  • Human Resources
  • Latin American Studies
  • Climate Science (Climate Science is a minor at Carthage)
  • Public Management
  • Recreation and Sport Management
  • Social Welfare in Biological Sciences
  • Sports Management (Sport Business is a minor at Carthage, and Sports Management is a track within Carthage’s Master of Science in Business program)
  • Theatre History

Specialized major/minor programs must consist of existing Carthage courses. Proposals should be thoughtfully prepared in consultation with a faculty advisor and the department chairperson whose course offerings will be included in the major.

A complete proposal must be submitted to the Curriculum Planning Committee for approval before the student has achieved senior standing. For more information on designing your own major, please talk with your advisor.
