Some Names on The Vietnam Wall

Editors,

The tribute to Jane Fonda by Danielle Friedman (“How Jane Fonda Made Fitness a Feminist Cause,” January 28) omits helpful information. Though there is polite mention of “her anti-Vietnam War activism,” there is no discussion of her aggressive public support of the communist cause during that terrible time.

In 1972, for example, she posed fetchingly on an anti-aircraft gun in Hanoi, garnering global media. The “Army Times” responded by reprinting an old photo of Ms. Fonda beside a happy-looking sergeant, announcing she was “Miss Army Recruiting 1962.”

A good sense of humor is important
