If you are a student within Carthage’s School of Business and Economics, consider elevating your professional experience into an internship for credit.

Students majoring in accounting, economics, finance, healthcare administration, management, and marketing can earn credits while completing an internship in their academic field. These internships can be full time or part time and can span multiple semesters.

Students across all areas of study can earn one credit for each 30 hours worked in an internship. Additional requirements include posting weekly to a discussion board, writing a reflection paper on the experience, and participating in an internship panel after the semester.

All professional experience is valuable whether or not you earn credits. What differentiates an internship from a professional experience is an academic reflection component. Earning credits for an internship is an option that may help you reach your academic goals.

Internship credits are part of your normal credit load, so overload and summer tuition fees may apply.

Management and marketing majors may also be able to use a 4-credit internship to satisfy one of their major elective requirements upon departmental approval.

If you are currently in a position related to your major and would like to explore turning it into an internship for credit, please contact Professor Julie Dawson (jdawson@carthage.edu) for more information.
