Business and Professional Coalition: ‘AI and Cybersecurity: What to know next’

Carthage will host the Business and Professional Coalition event: “AI and Cybersecurity” from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 12, in the Todd Wehr Center Jockey Rooms.

With Microsoft’s $3.3B investment in Wisconsin’s data infrastructure paving the way for increased AI applications in manufacturing and corporate enterprises, what do we need to know to keep our data secure? Carthage is especially proud to host this all-alumni panel of exceptional IT professionals and tech leaders who will discuss cybersecurity in the age of AI.

This event features Victoria Nguyen ’05, co-founder of Servitium Cyber; Andrew Munson ’98, IT risk manager at McDonald’s corporate; Kris Keckler ’97, chief information officer of Kenosha Unified School District; and moderated by Rick Bingen ’15, assistant professor and chair of the Computer Science Department at Carthage. This group of experts will explore what we need to know next as our business and manufacturing processes rely increasingly on AI-powered systems. They will share their insights from corporate, education, and government sectors on the possibilities and dangers presented by the growing reliance on big data.

Rick Bingen

Rick Bingen ’15 is an assistant professor of computer science and game development at Carthage. He holds a Bachelor of Arts in Computer Science and Theatre from Carthage (2015), a Master of Science in Computer Science from Georgia Tech, and a graduate certificate in AR/VR development and 3D graphics from NYU. With over five years of experience as a software engineer, Prof. Bingen brings a blend of technical expertise and creative vision to his teaching, focusing on the intersection of technology, storytelling, and interactive media.

 

Victoria Nguyen

Victoria Nguyen is the co-founder of Servitium Cyber, a cybersecurity consulting firm that demystifies cybersecurity and compliance for mission-driven small businesses. Servitium’s mission is to empower small businesses with practical know-how, a security mindset, and tools and strategies that safeguard their operations from digital threats today and future-proof for tomorrow. Her expertise is built on wide ranging experience encompassing national intelligence and intelligence analysis, healthcare technology, and operations management and strategic growth. By pursuing a life of service and curiosity, Ms. Nguyen hopes to transform businesses, inspire individuals to reach their full potential, and foster positive change in the world.

Andrew Munson

Andrew Munson ’98 is a senior manager of information risk management and governance for the McDonald’s Corporation. Mr. Munson is responsible for managing the security training and awareness capabilities throughout the McDonald’s system and for delivering key projects that enable the organization he serves to cost-effectively achieve and maintain an acceptable level of risk. At McDonald’s, Mr. Munson brings a human-centric approach to security training with the goal to (1) raise awareness, (2) influence behavior, and (3) create a culture of security throughout the McDonald’s system. Additional areas of expertise include risk assessment, identity management, and IT architecture. With 24 years of experience in information technology, Mr. Munson joined McDonald’s in 2020 from the financial services industry where he served as a solution architect and third-party risk manager. Mr. Munson has traveled all over the United States touring data centers and auditing the security posture of leading companies across the country. A student of internet history, Mr. Munson received his bachelor’s degree from Carthage, where he studied mathematics, computers science, and secondary education.

Kris Keckler

Kristopher Keckler ’97 has worked for Kenosha Unified since 1997, instructionally at the high school level, as well as a dean and technology coordinator. He was appointed principal of the KUSD virtual charter school in 2009 and served as board president of the Wisconsin eSchool Network Consortium. Mr. Keckler was appointed CIO for KUSD in 2012, managing the Office of Educational Accountability and the Information Services Department. He has been a champion of technology integration across many subjects, and he has given presentations at regional and national conferences. He has offered courses at multiple post-secondary organizations for a variety of technology integration topics. Mr. Keckler currently holds two subject matter certifications and three educational administrative certifications from the Department of Public Instruction, having completed his undergrad work at Carthage (’97), and two masters programs: Lesley University (’01) and Cardinal Stritch (’10).
