What have you enjoyed most about your career?

“I love the opportunity to work with many different artists! From being a choir kid in high school to exploring the different fields within theatre at Carthage, I have always had a deep love of new musicals. The chance to help develop new work with some of the artists who inspired me to pursue this career has been deeply fulfilling.”

How did Carthage prepare you?

“Carthage gave me the opportunity to explore so many areas of study and knowledge. Many skills in theatre are learned outside of the classroom. Having a wider view of the world outside your specific major in college is invaluable.”

What Carthage professors played a part in your success and how?

Professor Will Newcomb played a key role in my time at Carthage. He introduced me to the basics of many different areas of technical theatre (of which I had no experience in prior to Carthage). Knowing how each department functions in the production process is central for a stage manager who coordinates how the departments work together.

“Professors Neil Scharnick ’99 and Dimitri Shapovalov were instrumental in teaching me how to think about art and the history of art. And professors Corinne Ness and Lorian Schwaber helped me navigate the type of artist and person I wanted to be when I left Carthage.”
