Amy Nyren, MSN, RNC-NIC, has over two decades of clinical experience, primarily in the areas of neonatal intensive care, postpartum, and labor and delivery.

Prof. Nyren earned her specialty certification in neonatal intensive care in 2010 and became a Neonatal Resuscitation Program instructor mentor in 2016. Following her passion for nursing education, Prof. Nyren earned her MSN from Cardinal Stritch University in 2021 and taught pre-licensure BSN students there from 2020-23.

In addition to her teaching duties at Cardinal Stritch, Prof. Nyren served as the College of Nursing and Health Sciences curriculum committee chair and the AACN Essentials Champion. In 2022, she was selected as a global instructor for the Council of International Neonatal Nurses, which allowed her to teach neonatal intensive care concepts to post-licensure nurses and nursing faculty in Ethiopia, Ghana, and Nigeria. Through that same program, Prof. Nyren also worked with a team to develop a graduate curriculum for universities in South Africa and various countries in western Africa.

Her academic and research interests include nursing curriculum and program development.

Prof. Nyren is a member Sigma Theta Tau, State of Wisconsin Association of Neonatal Nurses, National Association of Neonatal Nurses, and the Council of International Neonatal Nurses.
