    Yu-Mei Chang M.M. ’22 is a graduate of the Carthage Master of Music in Music Theatre Vocal Pedagogy program. Ms. Chang is a music director and vocal coach at Carthage, where she also teaches Keyboard Skills and Applied Private Piano.

    At Carthage, she has music directed “Songs of a New World,” “Ordinary Days,” “The Last Five Years,” and “She Loves Me.”

    Prior to coming to the United States, she earned her bachelor’s degree in piano from Taipei National University of the Arts. She has an extensive career in music directing in Taiwan and China. Previous professional theater credits in Asia include “Mamma Mia!,” “Avenue Q,” “How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying,” “Daddy Long Legs,” “Murder Ballad,” “I Love You, You’re Perfect, Now Change,” “Laundry,” “Midnight Diner,” “Thrill Me,” and “Jekyll and Hyde.” She has also been a keyboard player for “The Phantom of the Opera” international tour.

    In summer 2023, Ms. Chang worked on the Taiwanese production of “Next to Normal” at the National Taichung Theater.
