Biography
Prior to joining the Carthage community, Julie Thomas supported the communications efforts at several non-profit organizations. She has experience in media relations, website management, social media management, business writing, and event planning. She has education experience from working at a K-12 school district for seven years and at Valparaiso University for 12 years.

Main responsibilities at Carthage
“I provide leadership within the Office of Marketing and Communications to align the team’s work with strategic goals. I support marketing plans and strategies through news, storytelling, and content functions, and I lead the College’s media relations efforts and provides backup on crisis communications and issues management.”
Favorite thing about working at Carthage
“The sense of belonging! Carthage College is a place where people say ‘hi’ and smile while walking across campus.”
Other interests?
“I live on a farm in Burlington with my husband. Together, we enjoy gardening, raising a handful of chickens, and visiting our son in Nashville, Tenn. I also have a love of literature — both physical books and audio books.”
