Chief Information Security Officer for the University of Baltimore
Chris Breeden ’16 who majored in management, is now chief information security officer for the University of Baltimore in Baltimore, MD. Mr. Breeden is responsible for the University of Baltimore’s cybersecurity architecture, strategy, and policies. As a member of the technology leadership team, Mr. Breeden develops roadmaps for university resources and mentors staff to reach their goals.
Mr. Breeden’s son is also a student here at Carthage!
What have you enjoyed most about your career?
“The aspect I have most enjoyed is meeting all of the passionate people in IT.”
How did Carthage prepare you?
“The part of my Carthage experience that prepared me for my career was showing me that details matter. No matter what you’re working on, focusing on the details will improve the outcome.”
Why did you choose Carthage?
“I chose Carthage for its stellar reputation in the community and its flexibility for non-traditional students. I am a first-generation college graduate, and I attended Carthage as an adult learner.”
What Carthage professors played a part in your success and how?
“Professor Pascal Rollet was an amazing instructor and mentor during my time at Carthage. He helped me have fun while learning new things.”
What's your favorite Carthage memory?
“The views of Lake Michigan are unforgettable.”

“My advice is to try as many new things as possible during your time at Carthage. You never know what you will like until you try it!”
