Carlyn Krautsak ?24, How Far I'll Go, digital photo, 2024 Carlyn Krautsak ’24, How Far I'll Go, digital photo, 2024 “AMUSEMENT” is a juried student photography exhibition that explores a range of relationships to the term itself. Amusement by definition is the state or experience of finding something funny. Something that causes laughter or provides entertainment.

There were several photo prompts for this show: Spring already brings wonder and joy, now consider how you can capture that feeling in a photograph. What inspires you to pick up the camera? What are simple things that make you happy? What guides you in your creation?

The exhibit features twelve photographs, including one alternative processes photo, by several Carthage students: Jake Janovicz ’26, Kaitlyn Jerbi ’26, Carlyn Krautsak ’24, Stewart Lilly ’24, Astrid Martinez ’25, Grace Medici ’26, Adam Moore ’24, Russell Smith ’26, Kortni Robinson ’24, and Summer Zilisch ’25.

The artworks were juried by Tony Barnhart, associate professor of psychological science whose research focuses on science and magic, and Chris Grugel, senior instructional technologist and librarian who has expertise in photography and rock climbing, and several anonymous jurors.

The show is on display now through Sunday, Nov. 3 and is free and open to the public. The photography gallery is a collaboration between the Center for Faith and Spirituality and the Photography and Film and New Media Program. “AMUSEMENT” is the fifth exhibition in this new gallery space.
