Sponsored Agreements vs. Gifts

Carthage regularly receives funding from a variety of sources including the federal, foundation, corporations and other private entities. It is important to accurately classify the funding as either a GIFT or SPONSORED AGREEMENT to ensure that funds are correctly accounted for and properly classified in the College’s financial statements. The Office of Sponsored Programs works directly with those extramural funds that fall under the SPONSORED AGREEMENT category, while the Office for Advancement works with funding that qualifies as a GIFT.
