Students who participate in the Carthage Honors Program should complete fourteen Honors credits. These credits meet College-wide requirements. The commitment to the Honors Program is similar to committing to a minor. Students must take all of the courses listed in the Honors Curriculum section.

Honors Program Requirements

  • Complete the Intellectual Foundations course for Honors (4 credits)*
  • Complete one Diverse and International Perspectives or Interdisciplinary Studies course (4 credits)
  • Complete six Honors Experiences (1 credit each = 6 credits total).

*Students who find that they are not able to enroll in the Honors section(s) of Intellectual Foundations due to class size or schedule constraints can receive credit by taking the 1-credit Honors Supplementary Intellectual Foundations Seminar.

To obtain Carthage Honors status, the students need to successfully complete the courses mentioned above, earning grades of “B” or better in each class in addition to maintaining a cumulative grade point average of 3.5.

Honors students who successfully complete the above requirements will be recognized as Carthage Honors Scholars, a designation that will appear on their transcripts and diplomas.
