Carthage offers a major and minor in history. To earn a Bachelor of Arts in History from Carthage, students must complete the Carthage Core, Distribution Requirements, and the history major requirements listed below. 

The study of history provides the necessary background for a sound understanding of the modern world. Because history is an interdisciplinary enterprise, the history faculty must draw upon both the liberal arts and social sciences to present an accurate and complete view of the human experience.

A major concentration includes 10 courses in the History Department.

A minor, including the teaching minor, consists of six courses.
