Nursing Scholarship
Carthage awards one full-tuition-per-year, renewable, Nursing Scholarship to an incoming student. This scholarship is awarded to a student who demonstrates compassion and quality patient care, and is renewable for four years.

The Bachelor of Science in Nursing program at Carthage features an elite curriculum designed to incorporate best practices in the education of professional nurses. Graduates will be recognized for their astute clinical judgment, unfailing ethical practice, and outstanding, compassionate care.
The Competition
The Nursing Scholarship Competition will be held on Saturday, November 11, 2023, on the Carthage campus. Students will be notified in early November if selected to compete. If selected to compete, candidates will be invited to the on-campus competition where they will complete a conversation with a member of the Carthage nursing faculty and complete a short essay.
How to Apply
Candidates interested in the Nursing Scholarship Competition must complete the following no later than November 1, 2023.
- Submit an application for admission to Carthage and supporting materials (high school transcripts).
- Submit the Nursing Scholarship Application (the Nursing Scholarship deadline for fall 2024 admission has passed; the Nursing Scholarship Application for fall 2025 will be available in September 2024; join our mailing list to receive updates)
- Submit a 250-word essay: Why do you want to be a nurse? (This is part of the online scholarship application.)
To apply for the nursing scholarship, candidates must intend to major in nursing.
The Nursing Scholarships may incorporate all Carthage assistance. Scholarships and grants may be combined with federal and state grants, not to exceed full tuition. Carthage also offers additional scholarships. See our scholarship page for details.
