Then: Double major in political science & philosophy

Now: Attorney

What are some things that you absolutely love about your job?

I am a divorce attorney so I’m essentially the host of a live reality television show playing out in courthouses across Illinois. Each day is incredibly unique and unpredictable. I love the excitement and passion that comes with my career choice. All the while, I have the opportunity to help families at a time when they need it most. It’s incredibly rewarding to have a positive impact, especially on a child’s life.

How did Carthage prepare you for career success?:

Carthage provided me with the foundation to be able to learn new things and not be fearful of foreign subjects. In court, I’m often expected to become a quick expert in a nuanced subject area. While I practice family law, I’m expected to be well-versed in taxes, real estate, criminal matters, etc.
