Hello again from the island of Zanzibar, Tanzania! On Saturday, we caught a 5 a.m. flight out of Kilimanjaro International Airport and arrived on the beautiful island of Zanzibar, right on the Indian Ocean.

We arrived at the gorgeous Tembo House Hotel, which is directly on the Indian Ocean and also happens to be the birthplace of Freddie Mercury. I had a delicious breakfast right on the oceanfront.

On Sunday, we took a boat to a small island off of Zanzibar called Prison Island which is home to...

On Sunday, we took a boat to a small island off of Zanzibar called Prison Island, which is home to rare land tortoises that are over 100 years old! We got to pet them, feed them, and of course, take lots of pictures. The one pictured here was born in 1917!

On Monday morning, we visited the Interfaith Center for dialogue between Christians and Muslims, where we got to talk in small groups with the people who worked there. We learned a lot about the amazingly peaceful nature between faiths in Tanzania. 

Tomorrow we are off to the town of Nungwi, Zanzibar, and I can't wait to learn about the culture ...
