The Lakeside Piano Festival gives aspiring instrumentalists from our community a chance to experience performances from a variety of outstanding musicians. The festival will begin at 7:30 p.m. Friday, March 24 with a recital featuring students from the Carthage Piano Program. On Saturday, Carthage will offer a series of music workshops to the student community. Taught by professors Deborah Masloski, Fumi Nishikiori-Nakayama, and Jing Chang, the workshops will culminate in a recital at 7 p.m. Wrapping up our festival will be a Performing Arts Series event featuring the EStrella Piano Duo at 2 p.m. Sunday, March 26.

The EStrella Piano Duo consists of Svetlana Belsky and Elena Duibovitskaya. Beginning their musical debut in 2011, the duo has worked hard displaying beautiful Russian music in the form of pieces performed by a duo. Their renditions of Russian music earned them a Global Music Award Silver Medal, specifically due to their new CD, Tales from the East. When social distancing occurred due to the pandemic, the EStrella duo created concert videos and movies for their audiences to safely watch at home. The Duo collaborated with North Shore Chamber Orchestra and created a beautiful performance of a piece for piano / four hands by Leopold Kozeluch, a rarely heard concerto. EStrella’s repertoire includes many rarely heard, beautiful works that other duos fear to touch. Elena and Svetlana have toured across Europe, Asia, and the U.S., performing their virtuosic pieces for all to hear.

The EStrella Duo will not be livestreamed. Tickets cost $10 for adults, $8 for seniors (55+), and $5 for non-Carthage students. To purchase tickets, please visit our online ticketing page available 24/7 or call the Fine Arts Box Office at 262-551-6661 from noon to 5 p.m. Tuesday through Friday.
