All Stories

The campus community is invited to Tuesday Chapel from 11:40 a.m. to noon Tuesday, May 2, in the A. F. Siebert Chapel.

The Center for Faith and Spirituality will welcome local ELCA pastors to Tuesday Chapel now through the end of the semester. The pastors have connections to the community and to Carthage and represent the diversity of the ELCA. They will lead worship and be available to talk with students after the services.

This week, we welcome Pastor Matt James of Lutheran Church of the Redeemer in Racine, Wis.

Pastor James was called to Lutheran Church of the Redeemer in November 2020. Before that, he served as director of admissions at the Lutheran School of Theology at Chicago; associate pastor of Trinity Lutheran Church in Worcester, Mass.; and Protestant chaplain at Worcester Polytechnic Institute.

Pastor James thrives on hearing people’s stories. The stories of how and where people have experienced God in their lives, and, in turn, how they feel called to live out God’s grace in their lives.

He is an avid movie-watcher (especially “Star Wars” and “Lord of the Rings”), enjoys exploring all types of food from around the world, and spending time with his husband, John, and their 98 percent adorable dog, Katie, and cat, Buddy.
