Carthage Mock Trial is excited to host the third annual Dairyland Challenge Invitational Tournament.

The tournament will be held Saturday, Oct. 21 through Sunday, Oct. 22, at the Racine County Law Enforcement Center located at 717 Wisconsin Ave. There will be two rounds on Saturday and two rounds on Sunday beginning at 9 a.m. and 1:30 p.m.

The Dairyland is a great opportunity to see the Carthage Mock Trial Team in action. Fourteen teams from Wisconsin, Illinois, Iowa, Minnesota, and Missouri will be competing. The Dairyland Challenge gives undergraduate students the opportunity to try their case in actual courtrooms before real judges, attorneys, and law school students. Several Carthage graduates will be on hand as judges.

Tournament play provides students with a valuable, real life experience of what being a litigation attorney is like. Tournaments are also an excellent opportunity for undergraduate students interested in law school to gain exposure to those already engaged in our local legal community.

Teams will litigate the criminal case of State of Midlands v. De la Porta and Poe Cameron. During the annual charity gala for Sohi Children’s Hospital, four masked individuals break into the vault at Miller Tower in the city of Santa Ivo. During the robbery, one of the armed robbers and Emory Sands, a Miller Tower security officer, are severely wounded. Two of the robbers flee via a helicopter which was on the rooftop of Miller Tower. The other two robbers flee into the streets of Santa Ivo. After an extensive investigation on both the local and federal level, Poe Cameron is arrested as one of the four suspected armed robbers. Local billionaire Berkley De la Porta is also arrested for funding the criminal operation.

Everyone is welcome and encouraged to attend. Come support and cheer on the Carthage Mock Trial Team this weekend.
