For the past seven years, Professor Rebekah Johnson has mentored students in presenting at the Wisconsin Health and Physical Education annual conference. This year’s conference took place Oct. 25-27, at the Kalahari Resort in Wisconsin Dells.

Professor Rebekah Johnson, Angelina Adamo ?23, Tyler Anderson ?23, Cooper Ferruzzi ?23, Amber Mos... Six future physical education teachers — Angelina Adamo ’23, Tyler Anderson ’23, Cooper Ferruzzi ’23, Amber Moser ’23, Sarah Pena ’23, and Taylor Woitesek ’23 — presented a session titled: “Students Take the Wheel: The Power of Student-Centered Teaching Styles in Physical Education.”

During this 60-minute conference session, Carthage students led participants through many different activities, utilizing student-centered teaching styles suited for various content areas and parts of a PE lesson.

Amber Moser ?23 and Sarah Pena ?23 present at Wisconsin Health and Physical Education Conference. In addition, Sarah and Amber presented a poster about the Homeschool Field Experience during the “Happenings on Campus” poster session. They discussed the program at Carthage and made connections with other institutions.

Students also attended many other sessions at the conference, networked with teachers from across the state, and caught up with alumni who shared their experiences teaching.
