2023 Japanese Cultural Festival poster The annual Carthage Japanese Cultural Festival, held this year on Nov. 9, was another big success!

Approximately 50-60 students attended the event, and Carthage Japanese students performed J-pop songs, dances, music, skits, and presentations. The Jeopardy game made by the students in the Intermediate Oral Japanese I class was educational and fun!

Congratulations to the prize-winners, Johnathon Ledanski ’26 and Titus Chang ’26, for their fantastic instrument performances and to the Japanese native speakers and Japanese learners who performed a modern group dance together. おめでとうございます!

Many thanks go to the MCs, Isabelle Hunter ’24 and S. Heard ’27; the poster artists, S. Heard and Shahrazad Shahin ’26; the speech interpreter, Jaramey Stobbe ’24; and Cindy Welch, Carthage’s administrative assistant and international graduate student liaison. The event would not have happened without all of your help and support!

Last but not least, the Japanese Program and students would like to express their special thanks to the Japanese TLEs, Natsumi Suzuki and Rena Shimizu. They have put enormous hours and effort into organizing and preparation for the event. 本当にお疲れ様でした!
