Two alumni named Carthage trustees
Carthage has added highly successful alumni Brian Peccarelli ’81 and Cherie Matthaidess Robinson ’01 to its Board of Trustees, benefiting from their years of wisdom in senior corporate leadership.
“I am delighted to welcome to the board two graduates with extensive experience in global companies and deep family ties to Carthage,” said President John Swallow. “We are extraordinarily fortunate for their support and commitment to Carthage’s future.”
The Board of Trustees has ultimate governing and fiduciary responsibility for the college.
Installed at the board’s October meeting, Mr. Peccarelli spent his entire 39-year career growing tax information and software for Toronto-based Thomson Reuters. He remains a director for the company’s charitable foundation, which aims “to advance media freedom, foster more inclusive economies, and promote human rights.”
Six times, trade publication Accounting Today has named Mr. Peccarelli one of the 100 most influential people in the field. He is a member of the Texas State Board of Public Accountancy and frequently takes part in panels at the World Economic Forum.
In addition to his undergraduate work, he has a law degree from Hamline University and an MBA from Southern Methodist University. Mr. Peccarelli has two adult sons and lives in Plano, Texas, with his wife, Jane.
Ms. Robinson will be installed when Carthage trustees reconvene in February.
After completing her undergraduate studies, Ms. Robinson worked for more than a decade in HR management at SC Johnson in Racine and earned an MBA from Marquette University. She resides in Seattle with her husband, George, and their four children.
For their professional and civic achievements, both new trustees received the college’s Distinguished Alumni Award — Mr. Peccarelli in 2022 and Ms. Robinson earlier this year.
