Matt Boresi, Carthage opera director, has had a busy summer of premieres. Boresi’s new song cycle for tenor and soprano “Buyer Beware: Songs from the Supermarket Bulletin Board” will receive its world premiere July 16 at Washington, D.C.’s Signature Theatre as part of their Sizzlin’ Summer Nights Cabaret Series.

Boresi wrote the words for his cycle with music composer Peter Hilliard. Also on the program will be their baritone song cycle “Farmball Songs” and Gabriele Kahane’s “Craigslistlieder”.

Boresi and Hilliard have made a splash in the D.C. area classical scene this year with Arlington’s UrbanArias premiering their chamber opera “Blue Viola” last March, and reprising it as part of the New Works Sampler at the OperaAmerican National Conference at the Barns at Wolf Trap.
