Education professor Patty Rieman recently completed the Population Education Leadership Institute held at the Arbor Day Farm in Nebraska City, Neb. As a trainer, Patty is qualified to lead workshops designed to train teachers on how to present a variety of human population issues and environmental awareness activities for grades K-12.

Since 1975, the not-for-profit program housed in Washington, D.C. has developed age-appropriate curricula to complement students’ science and social science, math, and language arts instruction about human population trends, and their impacts on natural resources, environmental quality, and human well-being.

Population Education trainers provide hands-on training to 10,000-12,000 teachers and student teachers annually in North America. Lessons and materials are standards-based, organized by grade or age level, and designed to complement or supplement existing curricula.
