Biography

Michael Polzin accepted the position of Carthage director of public safety in August 2022, with the goal of incorporating the community policing philosophy at the College.

In July 2020, Michael retired from his career in law enforcement with the City of Racine Police Department after 31 years. He was one of the first officers responsible for implementing community policing in the City of Racine. He also fulfilled a number of operational and administrative roles, including a 10-year stint as commander of the Racine Police Department Drug and Gang Unit and an assignment with an FBI Gang Task Force.

He was born and raised in Racine and has three adult children.

Main responsibilities at Carthage

Micheal is responsible for providing safety, security, and services to Carthage community members, and developing a public safety team dedicated to those responsibilities.

“People! I’ve found Carthage faculty, staff, and students to be so enjoyable to work with.”

Other interests?

“I enjoy spending time with my family. I’m a big Milwaukee Brewer fan. And I enjoy all the festivals and opportunities summer in south eastern Wisconsin has to offer. I’m not a big fan of winter.”
