Math Department selected for national DEI program

The Carthage Math Department has been selected to participate in pilot program, funded by the National Science Foundation (NSF), that encourages equity and inclusion in mathematics.

Prof. Haley Yaple Professor Haley Yaple will represent the department in the 2024-26 TPSE Math Creating Opportunities in Mathematics through Equity & Inclusion (COME-IN) program, supported by an NSF Inclusion across the Nation of Communities of Learners of Underrepresented Discoverers in Engineering and Science (INCLUDES) grant. The program trains faculty as consultants and departmental team leaders to plan and execute a DEI activity or project at their home institutions.

The NSF INCLUDES program has launched a variety of initiatives targeting STEM participation challenges, including alliances between professional organizations, industrial partnerships, and networks. The overarching goal is to facilitate the scaling up of successful efforts nationwide.
