Hedberg Library has a collection of DVD/Blu-ray videos at the north end of the upper level. We also have a large classical music CD collection in the same location. All items may be checked out for seven days with a Carthage ID.

Carthage subscribes to multiple e-video databases. See a list for streaming video options

Carthage also subscribes to the Naxos Music Library, which houses over 100,000 CD-length music recordings.

In conjunction with the Center for Children’s Literature, Hedberg Library collects and maintains a large collection of children’s books to support teaching and learning related to children’s and young adult literature. This collection is located at the bottom of the south staircase in the lower level of the library and can be checked out with a Carthage ID.

The General Collection at Hedberg Library includes the vast majority of the print titles in the library. This includes all fiction and non-fiction titles, across a broad range of research topics, including art, business, history, language, literature, music, psychology, religion, etc.

LIBRARY OF CONGRESS CLASSIFICATION SYSTEM

Like other academic libraries, Hedberg Library utilizes the Library of Congress (LC) Classification System to organize our collection. Each physical item in the library is assigned a call number displayed on the spine (or front cover) of the book. The number indicates where the book is located on the shelf, so books on the same topic are shelved together and allowing for users to logically locate items.

If you have questions or need assistance finding a title in the library catalog or on the shelves, please ask the Hedberg Library Information Desk for help.

Newly published books are on display on the upper level of the library. Here you will find current bestsellers, and new fiction and non-fiction.
