The sport business minor at Carthage is more than great classes and great faculty. We offer programs and opportunities that you won’t find anywhere else.

Sport Management Advisory Council

The Sport Management Advisory Council (SMAC) is a unique resource affiliated with Sport Business at Carthage, and is composed of executives in professional and intercollegiate sport. Members of SMAC are involved with much of the work in the sport business and sports management programs as they have had significant input in course design, and make appearances as guest speakers.

Master of Science in Business: Sport Management

Carthage also offers a business master’s degree in sports management. High-performing students in the sport business minor can earn direct admittance into the master’s program via the 4+1 model. The master’s program provides students increased access and engagement with experiential learning in sports through coursework taught by SMAC members and executives, the opportunity to earn an internship with SMAC member organizations, and the international consultancy project within the capstone course — which culminates with a trip to Barcelona.

J-Term Study Tours

January Term, or J-Term, is a monthlong period of study in January in which academic departments offer innovative courses on campus and study tours abroad. While many business students use J-Term to fill an academic requirement, others gain valuable global experience by traveling abroad. Carthage students can participate in sport-themed study tours, such as the Sports Journalism: European Football study tour offered in January 2024.
