Carthage offers gender-inclusive housing so residents can feel safe in their housing assignments with respect to their gender identity and gender expression. Gender-inclusive housing allows individuals to live together regardless of biological sex.

The gender-inclusive floor is located in Madrigrano Hall. This floor will be available for students who identify as LGBTQIA+ and allies. Non-binary and transgender students will be prioritized in the room assignment process in efforts to create a safe and supportive community for these students.

The gender-inclusive floor will be comprised of both returning students and new incoming students who want to be part of a living/learning environment that fosters support and engagement for members of the LGTBQIA+ community and its allies.

Madrigrano is a traditional residence hall where the residents on the floor share one gender neutral community-style bathroom. The bathroom contains individual stalls for showers and toilets.

How to apply for gender-inclusive housing

Students requesting this option should indicate their interest in the online housing application process. Students will be able to pair up with other students interested in the gender-inclusive floor through our online roommate search process upon completion of the housing application.
