Students studying pre-law at Carthage have many opportunities to enrich their education.
Students who are interested in a career in law, criminal justice, politics, or debate can greatly benefit from taking Carthage’s Mock Trial course. Students who participate in this course will become a member of the nationally-competitive Carthage Mock Trial Team and will represent Carthage in the annual American Mock Trial Association Tournament.
Phi Alpha Delta
Phi Alpha Delta is the world’s largest law fraternity, and Carthage is one of only three undergraduate colleges in Wisconsin to have a Phi Alpha Delta pre-law chapter. While many law students join PAD during their time in law school, pre-law membership of PAD is available while you are an undergraduate. Chapter activities include providing an opportunity for students preparing to enter the legal profession to meet and share information, organizing the annual lawyer’s forum, engaging in charitable activity, and participating in field trips and other events.
Several different kinds of internships related to the practice of law are available to Carthage students in the local area. Students typically work with well-established internship providers in the public sector including the offices of local prosecutors, public defenders, and judges, but internships in private firms are also sometimes available.
